Prevention Services
AIDSNET subcontracts with agencies to provide the following HIV/AIDS prevention services in the region:
Outreach - General HIV prevention education with the intent of recruiting individuals into risk reduction interventions.
Interventions Delivered to Individuals - Health education and risk-reduction counseling provided to one person at a time. This intervention assists a person in making plans for behavior change and includes skills building activities to prevent HIV infection or transmission.
Interventions Delivered to Groups - These interventions have the same goals as Interventions Delivered to Individuals but shift the delivery of services to groups.
Health Communication/Public Information - The delivery of planned HIV prevention messages to larger audiences to build support for safe behavior, support personal risk-reduction efforts and/or inform persons at risk for infection how to obtain specific prevention services. Also provides awareness presentations in schools and community-based programs.
